2001 Miata battery died and when I replaced it the radio no longer has any output. The antenna goes up and down, the display seems to operate normally, just no volume. Any ideas? I bought the car used and don't have any code information if that is the problem, but everything I have read says the word 'code' should be displayed and it isn't.

SOURCE: Mazda 3 Information Display

This really works...the fuse that controls the Information display power is the one labelled "ROOM" (15Amp). It is located under the hood in the engine fuses.

I didnt even replace mine, I simply scraped off the dirt/rust from the metal portion and reinserted it. If this doesnt work, test the ROOM port with a functional fuse switch (I used the one labelled HORN, 15amp). If it works with the switch, you have a good part, but need a new fuse.

Free solution to an expensive problem...if you dont know whats wrong.

2001 Mazda Miata SE. I forgot to disconnect battery and left it in Florida for 6 months.

Question edited for clarity, add maker.
Question moved to model category.

The best idea is to NEVER disconnect a car battery because you lose all the programming. Leave it connected to a Battery Tender. It safely supplies a small trickle charge to keep the battery are 12 volts. You can even connect it to a mechanical timer to turn on for one hour per day or per week. I use one for my boat batteries. I put it on overnight once a month. If it is outside, put a solar charger on the dash.

You need an auto electrician to reprogram everything, It is a quick job, no longer than 45 minutes to an hour.

The antenna on my 94 Cutlass Supreme no longer goes down. I can hear the motor on it buzzing as I turn off the car. Radio still works fine. How expensive to have this fixed?

Hello: You will have to replace the antenna, The dealer antenna will be approx 200.00 installed. You could also get a mast antenna for alot less. In the mean time you need to unplug the antenna so it doesn't run the battery down.

Radio antena will no longer go up and down...sits 25% extended, what is the cause and what do I do

This is a common problem with power antennas. You can either replace the unit (expensive and time consuming job) or replace it with a standard antenna (not expensive and can be a DIY job).

Power antenna broke and I need to replace it. How

Buy replacement antenna mast. Remove old one by unscrewing the retaining cap nut. Turn on the radio & let the antenna cable run all the way up while you pull on it to remove it.
Install the new antenna mast by turning the radio 'off' so the spool inside goes back to its beginning while you feed the cable of the new antenna down into the antenna mast hole.
Once the cable is all the way down, reinstall the retaining nut/cap and turn on the radio to allow the spool to run the antenna 'UP.'... cycle the radio ON and then OFF several times allowing the antenna to move all the way up and all the way down.
That's it!

Mazda Miata 2001 car problem

Batteries can have a dead cell in them, meaning there is sufficient charge to run accessories and the "check glass" may look fine (dark green in color on maintenance free batteries), but one dead cell in the battery indicates replacement time.
