I have a 98 Dodge avenger ES,,, After im driving

I have a 98 Dodge avenger ES,,, After im driving for awhile. The oil light comes on. Oil is fine,,, anyone know what this can be. Im assuming the oil light is the Kettle like pic beside the thermostat light which is the water temp right?

    No,,,, i haven;t changed the oil since last year,,, maybe 4 moths ago. but i am right about the light right? Its the one with the kettle like thing ? I assume the therstat one is water temp?

Could be a pluged oil filter or falty oil sending unit did you try changing your oil

Oil pressure always goes down as the engine heats up.

High mileage? If yes, worn oil pump, excessive clearance in bearings and rings. Probably close to locking the engine up due to friction.

Low mileage? Possibly worn oil pump or leak in head gasket.

You either have good oil pressure and a bad oil pressure sending unit, or your oil pressure really is low. Get it checked out, so you don'y destroy the engine.

Is you battery going dead? How old is the battery? After 4-5 years a battery is bad and needs to be replaced.

It sounds like you didn't replace the alternator?

Do you get a click when you try to start and it wont start?

Also check the grounds on the starter they could have corroded and this would cause an non-normal starting pattern. To chech these locate them, usually close to that starter and screwed into the frame of the vehicle. Unscrew them and take a wire brush and clean them very good making sure to expose bare metal. Do the same to the frame where it is screwed into.

Make sure to unhook you battery before doing anything!
