Can you reset the internia switch? Use a proper jumper wire and bypass the inertia switch, engine cranking. If the pump runs, maybe the inertia switch is faulty? jump the dark green wire with yellow tracer to pink wire with black tracer to see if pump will run. Just my opinion.
Three wires - the dark green with yellow stripe comes from the fuel pump relay ! When energized the relay sends battery voltage to the inertia switch via the dark green with yellow stripe wire . Inertia switch's don't go bad ! What's the problem ? fuel pump not working ? Test from the relay > Do you know what a relay is and how it works ? Watch this guy's video ! He shows chrysler first then ford . Do you know how to do electrical testing ! It doesn't matter that your inertia swich has three wires . Only two matter ! Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation
The replacement kits (includes Conversion Kit. Includes Switch And Bracket, Cowl Trim Door, Instruction Sheet) are the same for 2004 & 2005 models. Since it includes the trim, the kits are sold by the interior color. Ford discontinued just the switch (made a change) some time back. Ford OEM auto parts Motorcraft filters license plates
if u took the bed off to change the fuel pump make sure u hook the ground back up to the frame the ground should be on the driver side behind the tank,u need to change the fuel pump relay when u change a fuel pump because it could be bad to cause the first pump to quit working. not the right amount of volts or to much volts, the relay is under the hood in the fuse box,
if the inertia switch had to be reset for truck to start and you were not in any accident inertia switch is faulty.... if that isnt the case make sure the fuel pump is opperational....( Turn the ignition on without cranking the motor and listen for the fuel pump (a whirring sound) It should make the sound for about 3 seconds and then shut off this is how it is suppose to opperate....also if not done recently change the fuel filter....
Did you check the relay? Power goes from ignition switch to relay to pump. Where B+ stops is your problem.
Run a pair of jumper wire from battery to pump just to see if pump works. If it buzzes and runs its ok.
Then you definately know its something in the control circuit.
Your inertia switch is located in the right hand kick panel at the top, hard to reach with panel on, you can check it to see that it is in fact pushed in, but they sometimes burn out in this position, try using a jumper wire across the connections of the inertia switch and see if your pump runs, if so replace the switch, try the same for your ranger. Hope this helps, let me know
the inertia switch is only supposed to trip in the event of impact, so unless you are off roading or otherwise jolting the vehicle - the switch may be failing.....
