Car will not start first thought it was the battery which turned out not to be true then found out it was the starter, starter has been replaced but car still will not start. It clicks twice and thats it nothing after. Any ideas of what it could be?
Re: Car will not start first thought it was the battery...
Did you change the solenoid with the starter or just the starter? if you changed both i'm not sure. if you just changed the starter and not the solenoid you should change the solenoid.

I had the same problem, make sure your wires are not exposed and shorting on some piece of metal, that could cause a fire. Other than that I would check that starter again, it sounds like it is seized or maybe you have the wires on backwards. If you have an oil leak and oil gets into that starter it will destroy it. Hope that helps!
The ignition switch attached to the column is probally bad, check the small wire to the sloenoid for battery when the key is turned to the start postion, if no battery, your not getting power from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid.
Try changing the relay first, if it still does it, change the starter, sounds like it's dragging. I have a ford that did the same thing, I changed the starter, no more problem.
if it is turning over then check for fuel and spark if it isn't give the starter a good rap while trying start it if it starts then your starter is bad
It could either be a BAD starter or a BAD ignition they both would have the same symptoms of a "CLICK" alone. I would most likely lean toward the ignition because the key is difficult to turn but its not all ways true that key is tight because the ignition is bad, although possible. It could just mean a bad ignition cylinder(just the key part why its tight) I want you to do a test for me. With clutch engaged turn key to start position and listen for click on starter in the hood, when trying to start. If you hear starter click then the ignition switch is good. (Before you do this make sure that battery is FULLY CHARGED).STARTER IS AT FAULT. IF no clicking is heard coming from starter check starter fuse and if its good YOU have a BAD ignition switch. Contact if you need more hep and Thanks for using FIX YA
Try to start it in neutral. If it starts you have a bad neutral safety switch. If it doesn't use a 12 volt test light to check for voltage at the small solenoid wire at the starter while someone holds the key in cranking position. If voltage is present you have a bad starter. If no voltage is present check all battery connections and starter relay.
