I have a 97 nissan pathfinder, with the factory alarm system. I goes off anytime it feels like it. If I arm the system with the remote it will go off no matter what the circumstances. Rain, wind, dirt, calm, and even just sitting in the garage causes it to go off. I have looked at the relays and spoken with a few mechanics, they have said it has something to do with the motion sensor for the alarm. Do you think this could be the cause, and where exactly is this located?

will the alarm stop by itself after a period of time?
I had a car once that sometimes the alarm would go off while I was driving and id have to get out, shut door, put key in door and lock and unlock the car and it would turn the alarm off, and sometimes by just starting the car will turn them off... If you cant even start the car, or anything, you will probably have to call someone....... But first I would pop the hood and disconnect the battery for.. idk 10 minutes?(certain systems in the car can actually store a temporary charge) then reconnect the battery cable and see if alarm goes off? Leave the door open and such and unlocked while doing this and possibly when you re connect the battery cable it wont be activated
A 97 dodge ram does not have an alarm system available from the factory. I would suggest you bring the vehicle to the aftermarket installer and have them repair the faulty unit.
youre going to need to get a volt meter and have someone hold the key in the start posistion while someone else goes under the vehicle and test to see if there is voltage at the starters smaller wire. if there is, replace the starter.
Hey, I bought my 1995 Nissan Maxima GLE brand new back in July 1994 with factory installed alarm, it just doen't make any sound when you arm or disarm it with remote. The only way you can tell whether it is armed or disarmed is from the lever position of your doors and the blinking red light under the dash. Only the newer versions of Nissan/Infiniti's has the "Audio/Silent" mode button on the remote which allows you to activate/deactivate you car alarm with an audiable sound or no sound at all. No worry, there is nothing wrong with your remote or car alarm.
factory alarms are passive, if it is working it sets itself when u exit the car. u don't need the remote for the alarm to work if it has a factory system. if u want to test if it is working lock the car with the power lock button and leave the window down, reach inside the car and open the door from the inside handle, the alarm will sound if it is working, to disarm just lock and unlock driver door with the key..
