I cant remember hoe to open my hood on a 1991 oldsmobile

an owners manual would give you this info. there is generally a small box with a few large amp fuses under the hood and a larger fuse panel with many small fuses up under the dashboard somewhere. if it has a console, check for a snap open or velcro fuse panel cover on the side of the console where it meets the dashboard.

Hi Ken.If I remember right the plastic cover that the wires go thru slides onto the valve cover.You should be able to slide it up and it should come off.The other way is that the cover is a 2 piece cover and it should snap apart.Look real closely at it and you should see the snap tabs.I don`t remember having to remove the engine mount to replace them.I know what your are talking about when you say that they poked the wires because I`ve seen people do this.I also know the place your talking about because I used to work at Bergstrom`s just down the street from there.Try what I mentioned here and let me know what you find.Good luck.

the easiest way is to strip the end of the original cable and pull the cable to open the hood. if not you have to raise the car and try to reach the hood latch and open if from there.

You've got to make a long rigid hooked tool out of a piece of solid rod most likley found at a crafts store, It must be at least a foot and a half long and about 3/16 of a inch in guage.If I remember correctly the Cutlass had a plastic movable grille. You've got to get into the upper part of the radiator support with a very good led flashlight.On the end of the rod you want to create a "L" shaped hook. It should be about 3/4 of an inch at the bend.Now you have to locate a lever with a return spring attached to it. I'm certain if you've gone as far as making the original pullcord that broke, you're familiar with the piece I'm describing. Here's where the hook comes in. with your flashlight in hand and the hook in the other you've got to locate that lever or as much of it as you can see, and pull or lever it back towards the drivers side fender. Be patient, this is not easy, that's why they did this to prevent battery theft and the such. Once you're able to spot and move that lever your hood will pop open and you'll be able to open the safety catch afterwards. Remember Patience!!! If you can commission one of your friends to hold the flashlight that will make the chore a lot more tolerable. Good luck, Dana

Had this problem too.

Find a good pair of LONG needle-nose pliers and grab it. Once you have it, see if you can open the hood and reattach the cable. You might need to order a new cable and replace it.

dont have a reset switch but your fuel pump have a relay look under hood for a relay.

I assume you know to pull the hood release latch under the dash... Now go to the front of the car and find the lock slide, push it towards the right. and pull the hood towards you while lifting... Then go to the back of the hood( close to the firewall) and raise it up. The hood opens from rear. Hope this helps!

1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme fuse box location. Open the glove box, then the flap for the deep storage pocket. There should be a couple of holes there. Put your fingers in the finger holes and pull up. The glove box lifts up and out, and there should be the fuse box. There also should be some fuses under the hood. Open the hood, and on the left hand (passenger) side should be a flap between the fender and the engine. Open the flap (it comes all the way off) and there are some other fuses, mostly A/C and electrical fuses, I believe. I know it's a 1991 & you wanted a 1997, but i think it should be similer, give it a try.
