Have to remove remove door handle to take off interior panel of my 2003 gmc sierra 1500 to put window back on track cant figure out how to remove the handle

Sounds like you have lost the rod that goes from the door handle down to the latch. The door panel will need to be removed and the plastic dust barrier will need to be carefully pulled back to get access to the inner workings. There is a chance the outer handle is broken where the rod attaches.

what are you wanting to know?? the door is panel is still held on with clips, if your wandering why it still wont come off... start from the bottom corner of the door and work your way around. you will know when all of the clips are pulled lose, then just lift the panel up off of the door.

on the handle you have a plastic cover that goes from the knob to the wide end.prise this off and you will see a screw,remove it and the handle will fall off.

you have 1 screw by the handle bar, 1 screw behind the lock unlock button and 1 screw at the bottom of the door 8mm I think, maybe less more..plus there is a C clip holding the window crank if you do not have power windows. You have to use something very flat like a paint scrapper to get it off..just catch the egde with the edge of the scapper and push it out...

pull the inner panel off by first un screwing the two screws located on the handle portion of the panel(they may have plastic hadeaway covers over the heads) then remove the window rolldown handle(if so equipped,manual window)then pull the plastic trangle from the inner of the mirror(this little tri angle keeps the trim down and secure on the door. then pull the palnel directly out there are small clasp pins in behind the panel try not to break these(but they do sell replacements at your local auto store) you will have to get ALL of these free then wiggle the panel up releasing it from the inner shell of the door and and window. you should now have a clean view of the handle. you will now need to droll out the rivit holding the handle to the inner steel of the door. pull the handle forward and it should be released from the inner steel now there clips holding the "rods" to the handles back side, they should have a little piece clipped to the rodto un clip these you need only push them off with your thumb. then replace handle with the new one, and uce a large steel screw to secure the handle when replacing back on door.

if your main switch panel still works the passenger window and if door locks still work probaly bad window motor

its tricky but not hard. remove the door panel and put the window up, look in with a light and it will be obvious what to do......

take it to a shop or take the door panel off and your probley gonna find a striped gear or the rubber thats protecting its track is bound up

remove the door lock slide and will be a 7mm screw behind it and one under grab handle. also pop off the bezel around door handle. door panel will lift up and come off then you can get to window switch wires. look at the screws holding the window regulator sometimes the bottom screws come loose and cause rattle

You have to remove the door panel, if you have roll down windows the handle will have to be removed. After panel is removed you have to drill the one rivet that hols the interior handle. slide the handle down and unfasten the rod retaining clip. Please make sure you do not break the clip. Install the new interior door handle, clip and provided fasteners. Try the door before you install the interior door panel, Note the is a good time to lube the window roller and the door mechanism. Make sure to install the water shield to provide the protecting from the elements. Line all the plastic retaining clips and or replace if they are broken. Good Luck.
