I had the same problem! I used a piece of wood to keep the break pedal depressed and then started to remove one of the break lamps and to my surprise it came on! Same thing on the other side. So I did not seat (bottom out) the lamps in their sockets and both break light are now working properly. I had a similar issue last spring but that time only one light was out. I put in a new bulb and it still did not work so I messed around with it a little more and it started working. Never did figure it out until now. Hope this helps!

Took me 2 full days of trying to figure out why my break lights were not working but the one on the cab did. I replaced the beak switch, checked fuses. The second day of frustration And not wanting to get a ticket for no break lights, bam I cam across your post and fixed the issue instantly. I had to mess with the lights a little bit to get them to stay on. The driver side came right on. The passenger side kept going out. I used a hanger to scratch the metal inside the socket. There was corrosive build up inside so I scratch it all off until I seen clean metal. Then I felt the bulb moving when I placed it inside the socket . So I used the handy dandy hanger again to press the metal sides inside the socket closer to the middle so the bulb would fit snug and not move. Works perfect now .

In the fuse block under the hood on the left fender.
Check fuses #25 and #27 both 15amp. There is also
a 15amp fuse in the fuse box behind the trim panel
left of the instument cluster. Check these first. if they're ok, with the key off and the brake peddle
depressed check the stop light switch for power out.
The switch is on the top right side of the brake peddle
If you have pwr. check the junction box located on
the left rear inner frame rail. Using the test light I
forgot to mention on the stop light switch. Test for
power at the dark green and yellow wires. If there's
power there check the sockets. By the way if the
fuses are ok, replace 1 bulb and see if it works before
all the testing. I've seen stranger things happen.
Hope this helps.
Check your brake light switch located at your brake pedal
