2005 ford focus wagon All dash lights went out when I turned on the headlights,Also tail lights are out!! Very dangerous to be driving at night!!! Found a 10 amp fuse blown under dash, replaced it but it blows as soon as the lights are turned on. Any Ideas as to where the short to ground may be? Thanks in advance.

CarGurusJun 13, 2014 - Tail lights and dash lights went out simultaneously on Ford Explorer2000. Brake lights still work ... LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. Is this a fluke?

check the fuse it should be located either under the dash or under the hood, it will be a small black box with a snap on lid, it sounds like a fuse is blown

The lighting control module is defective and needs to be replaced...A well known defect. I know. I just researched this and replaced mine due to headlight outages. There is extensive information on the web regarding this dangerous defect. The NHTSA conduvcted an investigation and closed it.......No recall on the defective part. You wanna drive your Crown Victoria 2003-2005 at night?..........Pay money and replace the LCM.
There are 4 fuses you would need to check in the interior fuse panel.
The first one is fuse no.32(10amp) then check no. 33 (15amp) then no. 59 (7.5 amp) and no. 61 (7.5 amp)
Sounds like the jolt from the barrier has caused a bad ground to occur. Look for a bad ground wire around the left headlamp in or around the headlight bucket. Tighten or replace the bad ground wire. A poor contact will cause the headlight to light dimly.
