There are 2 screws just above the door handle you need to remove. Remove the plastic trim around door handle. Then starting at bottom of door panel pull out to disengage the push pin clips and work your way up both sides of panel. Then lift up on door panel to disengage the weatherstip on top of panel.

SOURCE: how to get driver door panel off 1998 ford expitdetion

It's usually the window winder that presents the problem . Remove all visable retaining screws ie; Grab handle , Internal door opening lever , Button on top of panel (if applicable ) etc . The majority panel are a pop snap on type . Remove the winder lever withthe aid of a shoe lace or thin piece of cloth material, The winder is retained by a horse-shoe shaped spring clip. .... Pull the shoe-lace/ material in the opposite direction of the winder retainer clip and it will easily come off, but it is a spring clip and may fly off so be careful. Good luck

SOURCE: 1998 Ford Expedition "door ajar"

Hi!!
On Ford vehicles from 98 to 02, the light Door Switch on the Driver's or Passenger side is a common problem. One day you come home from work and in the morning, your vehicle's battery is drained, First thing to do is to take the Dome Light Fuse out to avoid a NO START situation, Second is to check your Door Switches starting with the Driver's Side.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Whereis the power door lock rela for a 1998 Expedition. NOT the Eddie Bauer edition. The owners manual does not specify what the 5 relays are for on the fuse panel under the dash. My Expedition's jack

The relay your looking for is behind the right side of instrument panel , ford calls this a relay block , because there are three relays in it driver unlock relay , all lock and all unlock relay ! I cant be more specific , my diagram isn't very clear . You may have to take the glove box out to get at it.

I need a labeled diagram for the fuses in my 1998 Ford Expedition 5.4 2WD. I am trying to replace cigarette lighter and power outlet fuses in dash panel and front bench

Hi, the diagrams are included in the owner's manual starting on page 129. You can download one here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp

The lighter fuse is in the inside panel (by the brake pedal, fuse #3), and the others are in the box under the hood (#10 and 11).
