Hi, I have a ford Mondeo duratec diesel 2.0l 2001 reg. I had the misfortune of hitting a bad flood during the heavy rain back in November last, bent a conrod etc. Got all fixed had the car back a few hours and the ring gear came off the starter etc...all back to mechanic again..all fixed, happy days...except...since I got the car back it is lacking power, particulary in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear, most noticeable when overtaking which can be a bit hairy sometimes..EGR valve was off and cleaned etc...drove mighty straight after cleaning it...next morning back to square one..no power...disconnected the Suction pipe to egr now alltogether...and blanked off nipple where egr suction pipe goes on to egr...a bit of improvement...lifts out of it sometimmes and is dead other times in lower gears. A fair bit of back pressure on engine too so I disconnected pipe from rocker cover to air breather (tried blocking this and leaving it open..no difference I could see) and fed a pipe down through engine to let off the back pressure (was not throwing out oil or anything...however when i done this it started leaking oil out of timing chain cover and somewhere a back of engine, not sure exactly where looks like mid way down the breather pipe running from the turbo manifold intake...when I put back on pipes properly from rocker cover to air breather the leak stops, of this I am sure..Any ideas anyone...I have read about blanking plate for egr etc..as said I cleaned it and it is working as in the spring etc...Anyone out there any ideas..I am giving up trying at this stage...Tom

Hi Tom, Sounds like your car may be running in limp mode. might be worth a diagnostic check and clear any codes and get them reset. Hope this works.

I'm looking for a diagram of the timing chain and timing marks for mondeo st 220?

Duratec ST-220 used in the top of the line Mondeo 3.0 liter V6.

The original Duratec V6 was introduced in Europe in 1993 in the Ford Mondeo (Ford Contour/ Mercury Mystique in NA). Then in 2000 the smaller 4 cyl Mondeo engines also got the Duratec name, as well as others. Check this for 3.0L 6cyl...

Fig. Be sure the timing marks are as shown after the chain has been installed-2001-04 3.0L (VIN S) engine ( zoom link here )

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

My fuel gauge doesnt work on my 2001 ford mondeo 2.0 diesel duratec

Check your fuses. If thats ok, you probably have a broken wire on your sending unit which is located on top of the gas tank or your sending unit is bad and will need to be replaced.

Ford mondeo 02plt. Central locking fault

I will say you are having problem with central locking vacuum module.Either that or you are loosing vacuum in the central locking system some where.Diagnostic procedure can be pain in the ***.I would advise you to locate the Module and follow the lines to each door.If rubber vacuum lines are not thorn,I would go and get to salvage yard and get me another module that would be much cheaper. Also there is two relays. One is for unlocking and other one for locking.Try those first before anything else.Usually humidity and cold could damage them.Hope I could help you.
