I have the same problem. My Lincoln Ls wrench light comes on and it quits. All spark plugs, all coils and the throttle body has been replaced. I think the LS model is a lemon! Any information or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks, Betty

Wires ?? I didnt think Fords had spark plug wires anymore. You really needed to replace ALL of the spark plugs. Coils are common to go bad.

I own a 2004 LS. I would lose your Ford Tech. I put in one coil last Thur on my wifes V8. Some people like to change all at once. At $51.00 each and the rest working, I'll do them as they fail. They are COP- coil-on-plug. A coil and a spark plug boot attached,No Wires. Also stay with the OEM Spark Plugs. NGK-FR5AP-11 (NGK 6569) they work the best. Also, you have to use 89 or higher octane fuel and even then they knock. Scan for codes and be aware that the Throttle Position Sensor may be going. Also the EGR Valve will be next, followed by the Trans Solenoid Pack

Number 4 cylinder missing or loose spark plug wires. Where are they

First, if you would like help with your Lincoln, it would be really helpful if you were to mention WHICH ENGINE your Lincoln is equipped with. There were 2 different engines available for that year.

Second, if you are looking for spark plug wires on your 2005 Lincoln LS, you are in reverse...there are none. Your Lincoln is equipped with Coil-On-Plug (COP) ignition. Each spark plug has an individual coil mounted on top if it.

What, exactly are you trying to fix?

If you are trying to chase down an OBD-2 code P0304, there are a WHOLE LOT of possible causes for that code. However, on your vehicle, loose/missing/damaged spark plug wires is NOT one of them.

We have a 2005 Lincoln Lse with aV8 engine all coil packs have been replaced but they still continue to go bad .the car runs good the thorttle body also has been replaced and still are having coil...

You never needed the replace all the coils

I suspect that was at a dealer, waste of time
& your money

The coils fail at a rate of 1 a year,sometimes 2

They cost $59.00 plus tax & take no more than
30 min to install if you have no experience

They have been doing that since 1998 on ALL
fords products with COP ignition coils & now
they are on most all makes today & fail but not like
a ford

Very few people like or work on fords & never solve
LS issue

I have a 2004 V8 & a magic touch I guess

You only go to a dealer to buy a car & for warrantee
work. I learned that at age 19 some 47 years ago

Replace the front 2 O2 Sensors at 100,000 miles
before you get a Wrench MIL Lamp

They have to be ordered from NAPA &
the wires are 5" longer than OEM but still
OEM NGK/NGT

Spray the MAF Sensor with CRC MAF Cleaner

Only use NGK Spark plugs
They were the OEM Mfg & your V8 takes a special
center electrode 6mm I believe

FR5AP-11E

NGK 6569 avail at NAPA

Have to use premium gas or you
get a knock even with the dealer PCM

My 2001 Lincoln LS V8 3.9 seems to have a slight miss when in overdrive about 1700 rpm's on an upgrade..you give i. t gas and it bucks and a slight miss. Have changed one coil pack, new spark plugs, new...

When you changed spark plugs did you notice any oil on the insulator or wire plug? Or any oil in the hole that the spark plugs are in? This model of LS were built with gaskets that seem to always fail. Lincoln came out with new gaskets in 2002 or 2003. If there was any oil in the above mentioned places your coils (COP Coil on plug) could be shorting out due to the oil degrading the insulator on the cops. The fix for this is to replace the valve cover gasket set with the upgraded set. Also it's almost impossible to find which coil is bad, and I recommend replacing all eight of the COPS. You can find them online pretty reasonable. I have used these and they seem to perform as good as the Dealer parts, but at a fraction of the cost. This solved the problem on my 2001 LS V8. Also these cars are known to have problems with the timing chains, which could also cause your problem. The adjuster shoes that keep the timing chain tight are plastic and wear out and come loose. Some times causing the engine to jump time and in the worst case could allow the pistons and the valves to come in contact. That will destroy the engine.

What does the Wrench light mean on the dashboard lights of a 2005 Lincoln LS

It is the same as check-engine/ service engine soon.

Just take the car for a scan or regular servicing.

My 2001 lincoln ls is sputtering at 40-50 mph, engine light comes on for couple hours

this sounds like an engine misfire, the check engine light is telling you it is misfiring. next time the light is on you should go to an auto parts store as most of them will pull the code for you at no charge. I own a 2002 LS and I have replaced 4 coils in less than one year to correct this same problem.

2005 lincoln ls going into etc failsafe mode

I had to replace 4 different coils on my '02 LS before it finally stopped misfiring. After one code and coil replaced it would go to the next one. I had to replace them in this order, 2,3,7,8

When # 7 was misfiring it wouldn't even pull a code all of the time, the check engine light would come on one day then go off the next, really strange.
