1991 Porsche 944. starts fine, runs, then stalls...repeats..

I have a 1991 Porsche 944. I just had an old change a few weeks ago. It always starts fine, but when I stopped for gas it wouldn't start. I tired over 30 minutes and finally towed it home. It started fine several times the next day. When I have driven it since, one time it seemed to loose power and I down shifted, and pulled over to the side of the road and itthe power came back just fine. Tonight when I drove it, it powered down again and will turn over, sometimes start and then just dies. AFter 15 minutes it started and I dove off again only to have the same thing happen again. I waited 30 minutes, started again and then 10 minutes down the road, it dies again, will actully turn over and start then dies again. What could this be?

Please clarify what happens when it won't start. Is the engine turning over, and if so, is it catching or coughing?

When i start up my porche 944 it smokes but it has not been started for months

that is normall for a car left standing, you should always start a car at least once a fortnight and run it till hot.try putting redexe in the tank, full can to 1/2 tank gas, then drive it for about 30 mins.it is best to fill a tank with gas if storing it(less air to contaminate it...)new cars in compounds awaiting sale are started weekly and rolled forwards 1/4 turn of wheel.to stop flat spot on tyres...

86 porsche 944, starts n runs, while driving at higher rpms, car cuts right off, i start it back up n it runs funky, now last time it did it i pulled dme relay, and puty it right back in and the car ran...

I would buy a used one if you can (dme chip). Have you cleaned the fuel injectors? one could be faulty and could be a coincidence about the car working better after taking the relay out and putting back in. could be a bad cpu also. would love to hear what happened if you get it fixed. good luck

Engine stalls as if out of gas

I had a problem like that. Turned out to be the DME relay. Very common problem on that model. Some say you should never leave your house without a spare. Part is cheap, $30. It is located in the fuse box. Try that first. All other problems will be more intrusive and cost more.
Good luck.

944 cuts off after 5 min.

Sounds like fuel relay located in fuse/relay box. This is a common problem on the 944, always good idea to carry a spare.

My 944

May be your engine temp sensor which adjusts your idle when the engine is cold and as it warms up.
