2003 MDX with 60,000 miles. Dealer says to wait

2003 MDX with 60,000 miles. Dealer says to wait until 105,000 miles to change the timing belt. I am concerned because the car is nearly 7 years old, with driving time in Las Vegas, NV (1.5 yrs), Tulsa, OK (4 yrs), Buffalo, NY (1.5 yrs). When should I have the timing belt changed?

105,000 miles is the scheduled time to replace the timing belt on your mdx. Believe me if the dealer thought it was a good idea they would have done it. I know several people having mdx's in the 80k-90k range and no problems with the timing belt.

If there is no problems with the performance of your vehicle i would just leave it alone. You should still get 20 to 30 thousand miles out of it yet.Dont fix what is not broken.

WHEN DOES THE TIMING BELT NEED TO BE CHANGED?

Manufacturer recomends 100,000km(60,000 miles), but for some reason we and other mechanics recomends 70,000km(50,000mles).

Its just for safety precaution that we recomend early replacement of such parts!

Hope u will be enlightened with that!

How often do timing belt need to be changed

Some belts require replacement at 60,000 miles, while others could be at 40,000 or more than 60,000. It is generally a good idea to replace the timing belt at least 60,000 miles.

Timing belt in a 2005 hyundai replacement

You should find another dealer. Hyundai recommends replacing the belt every 60,000 miles and this dealer knows this. No reason at all to replace it at 42,093 miles. Remember that this is an interference engine so if the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. Do not neglect this service at 60,000 miles.

Cam Belt change

Hello mike_potts07: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. The suggested miles to change your timing belt is 60,000 miles. This is manufacturers recommended service interval. Also this motor is an interference motor. What that means is if the timing belt breaks. The valves in the head will be hit by the pistons. This will bend all valves that are open at that time.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. This way we can tell the information was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

When to change the timming belt for kia sedona 2002

The dealer recommends the timing belt be replaced at 60,000 miles if it is a rubber timing belt. Newer Sedona models have a metal chain timing belt that don't need to be replaced so soon.

Tune up

At 60,000 you should have all the major things done if you haven't already:
oil change(every 3000)
air filter change(every 15,000)
coolant flush(every 30,000)
spark plugs and wires(every 30,000)
transmission fluid & filter change(every 30,000)
brakes (as needed)
PCV valve (every 20,000)

You can wait until about 75000 miles to do your timing belt.

Hope this helps
