Accidently sprayed carb cleaner in throttle body while cleaning outside area. Now the car (2002 Nissan Altima) service engine light illuminated and the car idle is high and fluctuates. What could be the problem?? Please advise.

Carb cleaner isn't going to damage the throttle body. The check engine light is on so just do what pappy6 said. If it comes back just have the car's ecm (computer) scanned and it will tell you the trouble code and description. It's probably just a loose sensor if anything at all.

Nissan altima 1997 hesitate at stops, wants to die but still runs rpms fluctuate

My best guess is gonna be a vaccum leak... pick up a cheap can of carb cleaner. Start your car and listen for a whistle or something close. it will probly be near or behind the throttle body. take your carb cleaner and spray it with out the little red hose around the back coner on the driver side of the motor. you can visually inspect the area after you hear an increase the idle. if you dont find it there spray all around any where you see a hose. Hope it helps. a vaccum leak usually wont set a check engine light on OBD 1 cars. Good luck.

I changed the throttle and still got the p507 and the car still revs up when parked..now what??

Hi.

If you are referring to P1507 (poor idle), check the IAC valve. That is usually behind the problem. Clean IAC valve using carb cleaner Check the parts comprised in IAC system (valve, connector, wiring, solenoid). Use the carb cleaner also to clean throttle body. Check that everything is OK in the air intake (no broken parts) and try replacing filter.

Sometimes it is difficult to test in full the IAC valve. Try performing the general testing described summarily here. If that does not reveal any problem but still is very low, clean throttle body, MAF and air intake temperature sensors, replace air filter, check air intake and finally get back to IAC valve and replace it.

Below a diagram showing the IAC valve in the 4 cylinder engine. Position is slightly different in the six cylinder:

Trying to find a vacuum leak on a 2005 Nissan altima 2.5s they said on the right hand side of the engine

Best way to find a vacum leak is to start the engine and then spray Carb cleaner in the area you think the leak is in. then put the "tube" on the spray end of the carb spray so you can pin point the leak. The engine should speed up as the carb spray is sucked into the leak.

I have a nissan altima gle 2001 and it was working normally. Sudenly service engine soon check turned on and everytime I full stop in a red light, it doesnt matter if it is in Drive gear or if it is...

these are notorious for this problem-a leaking intake gasket at #4-it can be verified by using a can of carb cleaner. Spray around #4 intake port, if the idle changes you have the same issue. Do NOT clean the throttle body on these cars, it is so sensitive that a 25 RPM change will set another code that you'll never get rid of unless you replace the entire throttle body. I work on my neighbor's Altima, there are no shortage of quirks with these cars. Here is a link specific to your issue, with owners who want a class action against Nissan:

Try cleaning the inside of the throttle body with carb cleaner and a clean rag. clean the edges of the butterfly and around inside where it closes. Also has it had a tune up or is there any check engine light on?

How often should you have a fuel induction/throttle body service performed ona 2002 Nissan Pathfinder 4X4 SE?

I don't understand the question!

You can spray the Throttle Body yourself, every 2 or 3 years, if you like,
with CRC Throttle Body Cleaner.

There is nothing to clean or service, for the most part

Injector Cleaner-is a waste of money.
What would 10 oz of anything put into a 15 gallon fuel tank do?

When i start the engine it will run at about 3000rpm .i checked the cables at the carb and the gas.what else could it be pedal

Check for vacuum leaks. Check PCV hose and other vacuum hoses. Spray carb cleaner around intake, throttle body and vacuum hoses while idling in park. If spraying anywhere causes a change in idle. that area has a vacuum leak.
Possible IAC motor dirty or defective. Remove it. Clean the IAC plunger tip and the throttle body passages with air intake/throttle body cleaner spray can. Reassemble and start vehicle.

What all do you need to do a tune up on a pontiac vibe 2004

Stuff like: fresh spark-plugs, air-filter,new engine-oil, oil-filter, fuel-filter, plug-wires, rotor/cap, ( some adjustments may be necessary to the throttle-body and the throttle-body and choke cleaner may need to be sprayed inside the throttle-body).
