If you think it is fuel issue, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. There are some other tests you could try, but, too much liability, I can't be responsible for your safety.
sounds like your fuel pump is bad, it will sputter or be hard to start because there is no pressure. if it doesn't start have someone hit the fuel tank from the bottom while you try to start it, if it starts right up then you know you need a new fuel pump.
Local mechanic determined engine was flooded and started it by holding throttle to the floor and cranking 5-7 seconds - then the engine sputtered to life. It has run perfectly before and since and I'm at a bit of loss to understand why this occurred this one time - so far. It's been driven now 5 days with no problems.
