My 03 navigator started to ride very bouncy and check suspension light came on approx 6 weeks ago.front end would not air up and almost sitting on tires.then, light turned off and ride was back to normal. compressor runs at start up and sometimes kicks in for a mile or two as I am driving down the road. basically,I have sporadic and intermitent function of the air ride in the front. Any ideas? Please and thanks!

Had this issue as well. Problem was with airbags and compressor. Ended up replacing air ride suspension with coil springs.

My suggestion to you and all the other folks leaving questions on this board about collapsed air suspension systems in luxury cars is to fix that one by replacing it with a real spring and shock system which you can buy at www.strutmasters.com if it is economically feasible, then sell it and avoid air suspensions systems like the plague. There are legions of old 70s Citroens still sitting idle 30 years later on collapsed air suspensions systems in garages and barns all over the country which cars the buyers can't let go because they cost so damn much. Get a coleman air mattress and use it every day, see how long it really lasts.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical

• Restricted suspension movement
• Excessive vehicle load
• Cut, severed, crimped air line(s)
• Unmounted height sensor(s)
• Damaged rear air spring(s)
• Damaged front air spring(s)

• Open fuses:
• I/P fuse 6 (5A) and I/P fuse 20 (5A)
• Fuse 4 (15A) and fuse 15 (50A) in power distribution box
• Loose, corroded, or disconnected connectors
• Air suspension switch is in the OFF position
• Damaged solenoid valve(s)

Go to dealer and have them run self test and provide you DTC codes. Should be 1/2 hour labor time. Report back on DTC, Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Also, get some dish soap & water mix and pour or brush on all connections, hoses, solenoids, etc in rear first. Look for bubbles for a small leak.

did you change sizes of tire because it sounds like the ride height adjusters are running.

Sounds like your air ride suspension is either leaking air in the air bags, air lines,etc, or the compressor is not working. If your truck is still under warranty take it to the dealership to get it fixed or with a good mechanic. If it is an air bag or the compressor start checking online for any good, cheap parts because parts for this SUV run expensive.

have front suspension checked that truck has air suspension, should be half decite ride, some have shocks in the front maybe those are bad,good luck.

try turning the air ride compressor off and letting it go all the way down then turn it back on and see if it fixes it. the switch is either on the right hand kick panel or in the cargo area. if this does not fix it but the vehicle does lift up it is more than likely the level sensor causing the problem it is attached to the suspension.

The front suspension, is not air managed. If the front end is bouncing , replace the front strut/shock units. Hope this helps
