I don't know if your Mazda is all electrically ran, but it sounds like it. It may be as simple as a fuse, but mine ended up being the entire fuse block had to be replaced. Also there may just be a loose connection, especially after an accident.

My mazda 3 wont accelerate when you push the gas pedal

Depending on whether or not it stalls when you put it into gear it may be the clutch slipping. I have changed my spark plugs cleaned out my throttle body and no no avail neither of these options has resolved my problem. I, however, am inclined to believe that it is my clutch slipping. I have 104k worth of miles on it.

The last two mornings my Toyota Solera's gas pedal did not respond. the car started, I put it in gear but the gas pedal did not respond. Came back 2 to 3 hours later after it was warmer and I was able to...

1. never drive a car thru high water!
yes i have seen the throttle motors fail on the pickups
after fording deep water, cleaning it is a temporary fix at best.
there are other sensors in the throttle body assembly
that also fail when soaked with water.
replacing the assembly is the best fix.

Gas pedal unresponsive

Try this: Go to your local parts store and purchase a can of (throttle body cleaner) you will take your air filter out and remove the big tubing that is connected to your throttle body and filter housing. Spray the cleaner inside the throttle body, open the (butterfly) and spray around the pivot the butterfly opens and close on. What happens is you get carbon build up in these areas and it causes the gas pedal to feel like it's stuck and have to apply more pressure to the pedal. You will see alot of black carbon run out of the throttle body. Take a clean rag and wipe down the area of the throotle body. Repeat the cleaning 1-2 times. put your air inlet tubing back on and re-install your filter. It may seem hard to start at first but it's drying out the cleaner that was sprayed inside the body. Try this and see if this works. I've done this on many vehicles that shops want to charge $300 to do and all you need is $5 cleaner. It's very easy to do and takes 20 min.

EPC means Electronic Pedal Control. Fly-by-wire for your gas pedal--instead of a mechanical cable that pulls an accelerator linkage on the engine, there's an electronic device on the gas pedal, an electronic device on the throttle body and a wire between them.
You should check the sistem with diagnostic tool.

Engine suddenly revs when stopped & @ idling

sounds like one of the metal arms connected to the engine may be getting stuck some how. have someone get in car and press on gas when car is off while you watch engine to see what is moving, then check those arms to see if there is any possible obstructions or knicks or something on them
