Sounds to me like a heat related issue or even a charging issue best related. If the front grill is covered in mud or dirt it will not cool the components property. Clean that. How many km on the veh ur tranny filter might be dirty. It could need chg. If jts a standard ur clutch and friction disc might be worn. Or ur fuel pump might be going and after it runs its shorting out. Is there any obd codes or chk eng light of.
Hi Bennie, When did you last replace the fuel filter? I believe a service may be the answer to your problem. If you have carried out a service recently, try replacing the fuel filter for a better quality product. Regards John
Could be either or, or it could be neither. Is the "red light" a transmission temperature warning light? If so, the fluid is over heating and the heat sensor is turning the light on...Check fluid level and the condition of your fluid...if it's off colored and smells burnt, you better have it flushed, refilled and a new filter installed. Heat will kill a transmission faster than anything. Check the transmission cooler, most montero's had a cooler installed on the front of the vehicle by the radiator...the cooling fins need to be clean, no bugs or debris so air flows through it. Have your vehicle scanned also, if you had a transmission code the computers memory will probably still have it stored, this will be helpful with further diagnosis.
I think you need to have the transmission filter changed, and right away. If that doesn't solve the problem, then have it tested at the transmission shop. Rick
With your transmission warm and your car running. Check your fluid level. With that amount of Km, it most likely needs serviced and the bands tighten. There are some additives on the market that will give you a little longer life. You may want to try some of them.
ok i will recomend you to add a lucas transmission aditive to transmission and replace the sparl plugs and plug wires also let me know what's your other lenguage may be we can comunicate better in other lenguge and also have some one pull the codes and let me know what the codes are, even if the light goes off the compuetr save the fault in the memory and it will be pull with the scan tool.
