You forgot to mention "with A/C" or "without A/C". Here are both drive belt routing diagrams.

Depending on which motor you have 2 to 3 belts are used. use this link to see diagrams for belts on all versions to include timing belts.

We are talking about the Timing Belt and not the Drive/Surpentine Belt?

From your question - you are missing a Crankshaft Pulley? That will have to be replaced inorder to pu the belt back on.

95 nissan maxima has timing chain. no service needed

first you need to release the belt tensioner, and remove the belt. Disconnect the battery, and remove electrical plug on aternator. Then simply unbolt the old alternator, bolt in the new one, re-attach the the electrical plug, connect the battery back up, and re-install the belt. FYI this would be a good time to replace the serpentine belt.
