THe wind doesn't just push the power arm off, it must be broken and will need be replaced, You need to check if the actuall bracket that holds the arm is broken as well. It has teeth on it which when the arm is put on it lock in place with a clip

After the freeze we had my driver side windshield wiper will move up just a little bit then stop I'm just wondering what it could be and how I can fix it I have a 2004 Chevy cavalier

Possible the Wiper mechanism has water that has not thawed out? Otherwise Drive motor or internal reversing switch has burned or failed.

Wiper dodge ram

You must remove the wiper arm to make sure the serrations on both the arm and where it mounts to are not damaged. Turn on the wipers and see if the nub that the wiper arm mounts to is moving.

If it isn't, there is a mechanism called the Wiper Transmission. It is located in the cowl at the bottom of the windshield. The device has a number of arms. The arm that connects the right side to the transmission is off. This is usually the fault of a small round plastic piece at the end of the arm. Simply putting it back on is nit recommended because it will probably fall off again. This plastic piece is attainable at most good auto parts places.

Passenger Side Windshield Wiper Broken

Hi Jill,
The first thing to check is a 13mm nut that holds the wiper arm in place.See if you can move the wiper arm freely back and forth. There is a nut at the base of that wiper arm,Lift up a cover that is hiding the nut. If it comes loose from being froze from ice or snow. Put the wiper in its rest position and tighten the nut back up.

Wiper assembly.

There is, or used to be a plastic caliper that sits/sat in the metal arm. The whole arm should pop off and you can see the same on the other end. That can be very hard to track down for the cavalier specific. I just went to autozone and bought a mixed pack of them and took one to a grinder to make it fit. Works well.

Driver's side windshield wiper stopped working duing a heavy rain. I can move it by hand easily. Has the linkage come loose?

Hello, I would say that is exactly what has happened. If you can move the wipers with no resistance it's likely one of the bolts has come loose. Both wiper arms are linked to one wiper motor.

Driver side wiper not working!

its a small, white plastic "nut" on the wiper transmission arm- find one in a junkyard-snap it in and you can solve it for 2 bucks-takes about 10 minutes to do. Cant get the part separately without buying the entire transmission, which you dont want to do- common problem with cavaliers and sunfires of this year.

2004 grand prix driver side wind shield wiper going past windshield and now is not in sync with other wiper arm,and still moves past windshield and jams up.

The arm is stripped onto the stud its pressed into which is call a wiper transmission. That part mounts to eack ww blade then to the wiper motor. You need a new transmission and maybe a new wiper are as well
