If "CHANGE OIL SOON" or "NOW" is indicated on the Monitor, turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine. Within 16 seconds, insert a paper clip into the cavity to the left of the display and depress. The display will flash; when it stops, the system is reset.
Take to an Auto Zone store or other store that gives free code scan check. Some auto makers put built in alarms into the ECM to be reset by manufacture, now outlawed practice.
I just had the switch replaced on the dash and that helped for a while. Now the service 4wd light comes on but i have no problems shifting into 4wd or no problems with the switch lighting up. cost about $150 to have this done. Still not convinced the problem is solved b/c the service light is still coming on.

These display to alert the driver to follow the items listed under the manufacturer's service interval.To reset the message displays, turn the ignition switch on. there are three different dash panels used in the volvo v70 and s70 for 1998.
2 of them are made by VDO the third is made by YAZAKI
- the YAZAKI dash has a small rubber plug just to the left of the speedometer, pop it out with a small screwdriver and and use the screwdriver to push in the button behind it then reinstall the plug
- the EARLY VDO dash cannot be reset without a factory scan tool production date before 8/97
- the LATE VDO dash can be reset, turn ignition off, press and hold trip reset button, turn ignition on (still holding button) hold for 10 seconds release when light flashes
