Thought I was the only one! I found it by accident... take the key out of ignition, open the back glass with key lift open then close glass back.... this resets the security system.....
my car did this 5 times, I would call for someone to jump me off thiking it was battery.... then when I got cables out it would start I finally realizes I was resetting sec, sytem//
hate to disagree with the one above , but mine did exactly the same thing, I could get into my pathfinder but when I turn the key it would not start. I hit the dis-alarm button on remote to no avail. the lights and horn would quit going off but car would not start.... many times I thought my battery was dead. I would call my son to come jump me off. I used open the back glass to get the cables out... I did this several times. till once while waiting I got out cables and decided to try the car one more time and it started..... after this I was speaking to someone else who told me that is how you reset it.... Since then over the past 4 years its happened again and I just open the back window... then close it............ starts fine...
I did a litlle research on it... and sure enough that was the answer but no where in my owners manual did it have this information.

The security system for that year only prevents entry.. not starting....you have a different problem..
