Reserve is about 10% of the tanks capacity. 15 gallon tank is 1.5 gallons at the empty mark. 30 MPG would be 45 miles. Just a note though, don't trust your gas gauge...
Check for fuel, spark, and then compression. Fuel problems can be pump, pump relay, fuse, filter, line, etc. Spark problems can be distributor module, distributor, coil packs, power to distributor or coil packs, plug wires. Compression problems would be piston rings, piston walls, piston rods.
Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. try turning right to left at speed in an s type of pattern this will side load the wheels and probably increse the noise one direction and reduce it the other. you may also feel vibration in the steering wheel.
