2004 Prius with 230,000 miles. There is a lot of clunking and now loud road noise from front and rides rough. Also some shimmying (probably alignment??). And there is a rattle that comes from the right front, seems louder (or more noticeable) at slower speeds. Besides shocks (and alignment), any other likely candidate causing roughness and noise?

I also have a 2004 Jeep Liberty, with 75,000 miles. Mine does exactly the same thing and is worse while braking. Nobody seems to know what it would be that I haven't already had replaced.... Any ideas? :)
the first thing i would check is the sway bar bushings they usualy go first. you have a bushing out somwhere. ive replace many struts because people have requested new struts and when we install them they come back and complain that the clunk is still there and all it needed was a bushing kit for $20
hope this helps
