Approved oils for your car:

  1. ELF SOLARIS LSX 5W30 OEM approval for VW 507 (and VW 504)
  2. ELF EVOLUTION CRV synthetic 0W-30 OEM approval VW 506.01 (and VW 506.00 VW 503.00)
  3. ELF EXCELLIUM DID synthetic 5W-40 synthetic OEM approval VW 505.01 (and VW 505.00 VW 500.00)
  4. Motul Specific 5w-40 OEM approval VW 505.01 505.00 500.00 and FORD WSS M2C 917A
  5. Motul 6100 OEM approval VW 505.01
The recommended oil change interval is before every 10,000 miles. Trucking companies and other industrial engines sometimes use engine oil for 15,000-30,000 miles but they use oil analysis to determine when an oil change is needed because it's more economical for them. Passenger cars operate on different duty cycles and it's not economical to do regular oil analysis on your car so it's best to just change it every 10,000 miles. Changing your oil every 3,000 miles does nothing but waste of money and oil and modern gasoline cars also have recommended oil changes of 5-10,000 miles depending on use and oil type.

2006 passat 2.0t just replaced the Sparks and oil leak in2 places were done by vw dealer and dropped a pan changed the oil 2weeks ago now Im losin oil and every other day a cloud of white smoke with smell...

Valve seals. When you shut the car off overnight, the oil leaks past the seals into the cylinders. When you start it, it burns that oil and smokes for a minute( actually it smoke all the time, just not as bad at startup).

2006 VW PASSAT. TRYING TO CHANGE OIL CAN'T FIND FILTER AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE OVERHEAD ENGINE COVER

The engine cover just pulls off the clips so no problem their the oil filter is inside a plastic housing at the front of the engine rightish side and it has a 32mm or 28 mm head on the top of the plastic housing as its a cartridge type oil filter not a screw on type that you are accustomed too.

Transmission slams hard when down shifting. rattles car. 2007 vw passat. 2.0 turbo automatic

Need more clarification when driving and park. Happen to vw a lot with no solution. Could be electrical ( Tcm + Wiring conector, ECM) ( fluid change fluid+filter add lucid tray oil) or mechanical. Rattle could be engine or evap thing located under or next to air filter. Alternator also. The engine you speak of is know for sludge build up problems by VW. They've even made recalls base on what I've heard. Check oil circulation and how to fix oil circulation problem. Drop the the oil pan and clean filter screen where it sucks in oil. Other things related need to be unclog..

Oil usage in 2006 passat 2.0 turbo

I had the same problem with my wife's 2006 passat turbo. We lost 2.5 quarts in 3000 miles and the warning light came on. They put us on a 1000 mile oil test and I lost 1.8 more quarts of oil. They finally agreed to replace the rings. Service tech told me that the factory rings are defective, they begin to lead after about 25,000.
