that is the check eng light and that means there is a code in the pcm and u have to have it scaned to c what the code is and what is broke and needs to be replaced or fixed.goodluck
Just replacing the relay will not reset the code. You need to reset the code in your computer. If you disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes it should reset.
The 95 Caravan is great for giving you trouble codes. However they are two digit codes. There should be a blink sequence followed by a short pause then another blink sequence (example 2 blinks, short pause, 3 blinks... Then 5 blinks, pause, 5 blinks which means no more codes. Turn key from off to run three times and leave in run and watch check engine light to count blinks. Disconnecting negative terminal on battery for 30 seconds clears codes.
you need to have your obd3 Diagnostic Trouble Codes read Most auto parts stores will do this for you. This will give you a better idea where to start Please vote if this helps
P1491 is Radiator Fan Control Relay Circuit. MEANING: An open or shorted condition detected in the low speed radiator fan control circuit.
Some questions for you:
1. Is your Caravan overheating?
2. Is your Caravan water temperature spiking going past the midway point on the Temp Gauge before the radiator is engaged?
3. Is your Rad Fan coming-on and then turning off and back-on in a very short period of time (like under a minute?
If all of these are "No" then do not worry about it.
HI!!!!!! P1491 means radiator fan relay control cir. .. the best thing you can do is run the car for about ten min.if tac is digital feel it w/ you hand if is hot . is you alternator .if is not digital. take apart the alternator bring it to local autozone have them chek for you . dont forgot to change the relay,,,,,
There is no way to know what is turning on the light without a scanner, which is a diagnostic tool for reading trouble codes that cause the light to come on. If you have an AutoZone parts store near you, they'll hook up to your car and give you the trouble code for free. This will give you an idea of what's wrong.
