Fixing AC Temperature Control on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix... How To Install Replace AC Heater ...

tip

Climate control settings,on all vehicles

When using the ac on a hot summer day,or a mild spring day,the compressor runs all the time.If you set it to low,and turn the temp to cold or toward the warmer side, lets say cool, then the ac compressor runs also,it just cycles,on,and off.No matter what setting you are using on your ac control, the ac compressor stays on,using fuel.Get the most out of your ac,while it uses your fuel,to keep you comfortable. All vehicles have a MAX setting,or a recirculate setting.Always use this setting.I say, always use this setting, not only that, but use this setting.I stress this because you are pulling in air ,from the out side, that is warming the evaporator, and making the ac work harder to give you comfort. In the hot ,hot summer, the settings MAX,and recirculate, keep the air that is in the vehicle,in the vehicle. It recirculates the air, instead of bringing hot air inside the vehicle ,and bringing the temp,up,to a warmer temp.A lot of people don`t even know that this is on the control,or don`t know what it is for. Some times the recirculate button,or dial, will have a picture that looks like a C,but squared off at the corners. So folks, get more out of your vehicles cooling and heat system.Yes ,this will work on heat also, maybe not defrost, but on some cars,it will work.

In my 2000 ford expedition my temp gauge keep jumping back and fourth when I run my ac. Y?

Running the AC does increase load on the engine, and thus heating, so if gauge changes gradually, this is because the compressor kicks in for a while, then kicks out. If cooling system is not working properly, small additional load could cause temp change. Other possibility is compressor going bad and causing excess drag.

If change is sudden, loose wire somewhere near compressor could be the issue.

Why is my AC compressor running when my temperature control is set to heat, fan control set to 2, AC control switch off and air flow control set for floor?

If you have an automatic climate system where you can set temp the the compressor will run at some of the middle settings. The system blends cold and warm air to obtain the desired temp setting. If it does not have automatic control you have another issue.

Cooling fan runs all time

If you mean all the time when the ignition is on, this may be correct, depending on how you have the climate controls set. Anytime you have the climate control in an A/C mode, or whenever the defroster is on (look for the squiggly lines icon on the control), the A/C compressor runs and thus so will the cooling fan. To be sure, place the climate control in the heat mode with the air directed to the floor vents, As long as the engine is at normal temp, then cooling fan should be off in this condition.

It sounds like the system is fried. Based on the description, it is just pulling in the outside air and not doing anything to heat or cool the flow. Unfortunately, this is a job for your preferred mechanic.

Just brought used 94 cadillac deville ac works great but no heat

This is the the Cadillac Climate Control operates. When you press AUTO, the system will automatically maitain DESIRED temp . The A/C compressor will operate ALL THE TIME on AUTO. Don't want the a/c compressor to operate, PRESS " ECON". Air delivery will NOT be DE-HUMIFIED, nor will it cool, only warm,. Hope this helps.
