Just started having a rattling noise start up. Sounds like something may be loose. The odd thing is is that it doesn't start when I turn on the car, though if I idle or slow down enough it starts up, though it stops when I start to excelerate.

The 2.2 or 2200 four cylinder engine is bad for lifter rattle after the mileage gets up there, timing gears are also noisy in them.. I have had good luck using full synthetic oil, I would buy an engine oil flush kit with the next oil change and then use synthetic, If this noise isnt consistant with engine speed, then i would look at pumps and pulleys on the fron of the motor, sometimes AC pump clutches get squeeky and often rattle when disingaged, try turning the AC or defroster on and of to test for a change in the noise.

Car making noise when you hit gas sounds like something loose

The first thing to start rattling on cars are the heat shields for the exhaust system. Usually around the catalytic converters first.

When car is stopped in drive it makes a rattling noise really loudly.

The rattle is caused because the rpm is lower. When stopped in drive with one foot on the brake, press the throttle down slowly until the vibration stops and the noise goes away. Cause? Weak or bad motor mounts, loose bolts or parts.

Rattling noise during start up. I turn the key and there is a loud rattle noise when the car first fires up. When the car fires up it sounds like I have my foot on the accelerator as it revs up at first...

check your starter and see if it is loose, this will cause it (starter) to use more amperage to start which leaves less amperage for the rest of the electrical system (maybe the long start problem too), hope this helps, let me know

Loud ticking/knocking/rattling sound when I start/accelerate

hi is it miss-firing as it sounds like a knocking noise can be anything but if you can feel it on the accelerater pedal then the noise sounds like its on the inlet valve side which would transfere the noise up the throttle body where the accelerater is located it could be something as simple as a tappet come loose to a burned valve you need to have a look do a compression test and take the rocker cover off see if theres anything come loose yates210456
