Rear wiper scrapes bodywork on my freelander 1

Start by removing battery terminals and scraping/cleaning the terminals and connectors thoroughly. Put it back together and try your luck. Some folks like to soak in coca cola since that is all that coke is good for.

loose wiper-spindal conection, make sure wipers are parked and tighten up nut under cover at base of wiper arm

You have to unclip it. Usually by pushing wiper blade to right (pass side) while holding wiper arm. Look to bottom side (facing window) some have small plastic button molded into them you have to push to release.

is the window snow or ice covered? if so, you'll need to scrape the snow or ice off of it. the wiper blade may only have frozen to the glass. after windows clear,try picking up wiper away from the glass and then turn it on. use your rear defroster to keep this from ocurring again. if none of this works, check for blown fuse under the dash. if this works,please accept my soltion and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Check to see if the nut that holds the wiper arm at its base has come loose. tighten to spec. this will happen if you run youe wipers when the are frozen to the windshield. (or shall a say windscreen, it is a british vehicle)

check to make sure that the COUPLER(it makes the 2 units work as 1) is not disconnected.It's probably under the windshield vent screen.

get a new wiper motor its not the switch trust me

disconnect battery reconect after 5 mins on reconnection rear window will go down , use key in rear lock to reset rear window, door lock should now work, if not try rear door relays behind left hand rear panel.

The Haynes manual says the following:-
The central contol unit (CCU) is located in the back of the fusebox below the driver's side fascia. If a fault develops you have to use a LR delaer to use the diagnostics. The unit controls the anti-theft, windscreen wipers, courtesy lamp delay, door opening warning lamp, key-in alarm,rear foglights, light-on alarm, seat belt warning, handbrake warning, rear screen wiper, tailaget window and many others.
Section 12.20 has a whole section on the alarm. The key fob alarm handset contains a transponder which talks to a reader in the ignition switch. So the immobiliser will cut in if the ignition key and the key fob are not on the same key ring.

Find the air intake pipework that runs across the front of the engine and turns towards the rear of the vehicle and terminates in the air filter housing. loosen the fixings on this intake pipework and remove it completely, remove the oil filler cap and plug the hole with a rag to prevent contamination, remove the cover that had the oil filler cap mounted on, this involves the removal of 3 allan screws that are easily visable (more or less in line with the oil filler) then remove another 2 a;;an screws holding the rear of this cover these can be difficult to access as they are close to the bodywork below the windshield, this cover should now lift clear to allow access to the air filter, refitting is just a reversal of the above procedure, it is a good idea to remove any loose dirt before refitting the new filter by using a vacuum cleaner.
