My 2001 chevy tahoe acts like its not getting gas. It will start but no go anywhere and die when you give it gas. The check oil pressure light came on when it died today. It started after I had my oil changed.

I would call the place that changed the oil. It is possible some rookie disconnected something. It is also possible for the fuel pump to be failing by coincidence.
Pop the hood and locate your air filter box. Find the sensor in the air tube that has wires going to it and make sure it is plugged in. That would definately cause this issue. The sensor is called the Mass Air Flow sensor.Pop the hood and locate your air filter box. Find the sensor in the air tube that has wires going to it and make sure it is plugged in. It is better to have a Higher Oil Pressure.. When shut off it reading 40 is just the gauge I would think. On my 78 Chevy the gauge will not zero out untill the next day when I go to start it and turn the key over. You might try running some Fuel stabilizer through it, Possibly a better Grade gas.. As the oil goes, If you are loosing oil I advise checking it Weekly, and add oil as needed.. to maintain the proper running level.. Change every 5000 miles or so as normal, Also Change filter each time you change the oil. I hope this helps a little. Good luck!
I have seen this type of problem before, this sounds like the engine is not getting the correct amount of fuel pressure it needs as you accel.the first thing is to remove the fuel filter and replace it, take the old filter and blow into it, this will tell you if its restricked. the next step will be to check fuel pressure, you will need a gauge for this test, hook up gauge at valve on the injector rail, take caution wear safty glasses as fuel is under pressure and will spary out a little as you connect line for the gauge to fuel injector rail valve, you will run the engine and also step on gas pedal as you watch the pressure, i would rev the engine to around 3000rpms and hold it to see if engine tries to stall or buck when it begins to act up look at the gauge and if the pressure drops as it starts to act up then the fuelpump is bad. its not able to keep up the pressure. start there good day.
Have the fuel pressure at the fuel rail checked. If you just want to throw parts at it: Fuel filter by the tank first. Fuel pressure regulator next. Order of ascending expense and likely hood. Does the fuel pump hum louder lately? The fuel pump may be on it's way out. It's not getting enough fuel to do anything but idle. Why that is takes some investigation. Somebody like Auto Zone may check your fuel pressure. If the fuel pressure is good, bad spark plug wires are the next guess. Lift the hood and run the engine in the dark (take the light bulb under the hood out if it still works to do this) If you see little lightening bolts traveling over the engine you need new plug wires. If the fuel pressure is good, the wires are good, change the spark plugs. Good Luck!
could be as simple as a dirty fuel filter. or maybe the fuel pump has died..i will go with the fuel filter since you were able to get it started again.. also when replacing your fuel filter you should go ahead and get new plugs and wires.. a small tune up wouldnt hurt and would only set you back 100.00 dollers maybe.. hope this helps
I have a 2K1 Tahoe that was doing the same thing. It wouldn't idle properly and would die at stop lights. The check engine light would come on once in a while for a few seconds. I took it to a dealer and they removed and cleaned the soot like residue and other build up from the throttle body. That fixed the problem and I haven't had any problems since then. Hope this helps.
