Special Tool(s)
Radio Removing Tool 415-001 (T87P-19061-A) Removal and Installation
Disconnect the battery cables. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
Remove the audio unit.
Insert the special tool into the radio face plate and release the radio retaining clips.
Pull outward on the special tool and remove the audio unit from the instrument panel.
Remove the screws near the mirror and armrest and then with a door panel tool pry the panel out from the door which is being held by push plugs......Door handle needs to be removed before panel is pried out!!!!!!!!!
You should notice 4 small holes, one in each corner of the radio. A
special tool (Ford, most audio shops have/ sell them), shaped like two
wire horseshoes, are inserted into those holes and sprung outward. This
forces metal tags inside the dash inward, so that the radio can be
removed. I have been able to fashion substitutes out of heavy spring
steel wire, You can get this tool at Autozone,it's about $15.00
No special tools should be necessary but it is recommended procedure to replace calipers in pairs. Be sure to follow manufacturers procedure for bleeding. ABS systems need to have the accumulator charged. Parking brake mechanisms may require attention.
the radio is removed with a special tool set, it can be bought at any good parts store like NAPA, it is made by KD tools, the two U shaped tools go into the holes on each side of the radio face plate and release the spring clips that hold the radio in, a 30 sencond job.
Install a 16-mm (5/8-inch) closed end wrench for 7.5L engines or a 15-mm (19/32-inch) closed end wrench for 5.8L and 7.3L engines on the tensioner pulley bolt and lift the tensioner arm away from the belt.
Remove belt. Release tensioner arm slowly. Do not allow arm to snap back after the belt is removed because this may damage the tensioner.
nothing special, its in the valley, probably have to remove the fuel bowl and the turbo pedastal to get access to it. book value from navistar / ford is a 4 hour job. better have a good ladder and a plywood sheet to lay on up in the engine bay.
