Push button 4 wheel drive stuck in 4 wheel hi

It could be a junk switch or it could be bad contacts inside the transfer case motor.. Does the transfer case switch to the selected gears? Everytime? If so, you might try another switch. If it does the same, I would say the motor contacts are bad. Replace the motor if you want the lights, But I personally wouldn't do it until the motor quit switching gears. They're not cheap.

check the vacuum lines to the actuator in the front wheels . check the actuator operation in the transfer case.

Try going to 2WD while in neutral. Then take it to the shop to check it out.

If your truck has a dashboard push-button 4x4, then carefully disassemble and clean with Q-tips and alcohol. when 4x4 lights turn off, drive in reverse over 15 feet. Good luck.

sounds like the shift motor on the transfer case is going bad.

If so maybe the transfer case motor? look on back of transfer case for something that looks like a window motor.... have a friend, while on level surface in nuetral with brake depressed, try pushing 2-wheel button while you lightly tap on side of window motor with light weight hammer or wrench. If this doesnt work then motor may be bad.
