Question about 2000 Audi A4

1 Answer

When i press the emergency light button - only the light on right side start blinking. The light bulbs are okay as my indicators are working fine. Is there a fuse that has gone bad or some other issue? When the problem started - left side lights used to blink intermittently but they have completely stopped now. Any pointers on diagnosis and fixing the problem would be very helpful.

    Thanks for replying.I tried that.

To check if it was the right fuse - I took the flasher light fuse out and turned the flash lights on - they didn't come on.

Then i replaced it with another 10 A fuse that was working but still the same thing. Only the lights on the right side blink but not left.

Is there some other fuse that i should be looking at? Or some other next steps in diagnosis...

Check the fusebox first to make sure a fuse hasnt blown, then try the relay for the indicators/hazard lights.if you havent got a circuit tester, this will be trial/error.

Alpha Romeo 156 My Left hand indicator light stays on continually, does not flash. and when I turn the hazard light switch on both indicators continually glow.

Generally speaking, symptoms of a bad or failing turn signal bulb are usually the culprit...in your case, either it's the front left or rear bulb. Varies for different vehicle makes...common signs include:
  1. turn signal light staying on solid
  2. or blinking very fast
  3. or either sides of the bulbs stop blinking altogether.
To test this, make sure you reconnect everything you disconnected.
Turn the left signal light on; go to the front of the vehicle, is the turn signal bulb illuminated? If it lights up, even though it is not blinking obviously the bulb is okay. If it doesn't, replace it- problem solved. You'll do the same procedure for the rear turn signal Is that lit up? If not replace the bulb and the problem is solved.
Another common failure is when the turn signal blinks really fast, same procedure as mentioned above.
If both bulbs for the left side and right side illuminate but don't blink, the problem is in the steering column turn signal switch.
If the left or right side blinkers don't work properly at all...then check the integrated hazard warning/turn signal flasher relay- that may be defective; again, that's usually the case if both sides of the signal light don't work.
If you are blowing any fuses related to the flasher system, you have an electrical overload in the turn signal circuitry.

07 Impala rear driver side brake light and turn signal does not work, but when I checked the bulb it was working just not when I press the brake. The left turn signal on the dash also blinks rapidly.

Sounds like a possible bad ground connection.
Make sure the contacts for the bulb are clean.
Make sure the cround connection is not corroded.

95 Mazda 323 Hatchback - front left turn signal works sometimes. When not working, indicator blinks fast and rear left signal light blinks quickly as well. I was told it was the bulb but how can that

Could be a faulty socket too. The flasher "blinks" slow when all lights are functioning. A short to ground, to another circuit, or an open circuit can make the flasher blink fast.

2008 CTS front directional not working?

Try replacing ALL directionals for the side that is not working properly. That fast blink in the back usually means bad bulb, but could also mean bad relay.

Can you elaborate? You say emergency flashers work, but FR directional does not. Does the bulb-in-question light when the E-flashers are going?

Blinkers

You can check your blinker relay located in the fuse box. You should have 2 of them. 1 is for the emergency blinkers. Trade them to see if this corrects the problem. The other issue could be the multi switch is not functioning properly all the time.

Turn indicator light flashes quickly. bulbs fine

The quick flash is a fault detection for a burnt out bulb. If bulb is good, check bulb socket. Inspect for corrosion. If needed, replace bulb socket. Check bulb socket connector. Check if fuse. Check emergency flashers ( most cars have a separate circuit).

Front blinker and run light don't work

Look at the second page of the diagram at the link. The flag "E" in lower right has power coming from the switch. It goes to the instrument cluster, right mirror turn indicator, and right front turn bulb. Is the instrument panel light blinking? How about the mirror? Use these facts to find the break in the wire. If none of these lights is blinking, the switch may be broken, as yadayada indicates. See page 1 at the link. It has a separate contact for the rear light, which is why the back can work and not the front, even though the switch is broken.
