If you hear the normal ding ding ding sound from the door being open then your switch is working.

can you turn interor lights on manually.
no- check the fuse or bulb
yes- ok there is an overide switch, so interior lights do not come on, it is usually located near the light switch itself.

Sounds like a broken wire on the drivers side . A rubber boot at the front of the door. This is where the wires break first. To check for power and ground to the parts you have to pull the switches and door panel.

possible broken wire in loom between door and a pillar, open door and at front end you will see rubber boot peel this back and gently tug wires one at time normally red or black thick guage wire breaks carry out repair and should fix problems

the switcwes that turn on lights when door is opened are located in the door latch itself.spraying latches in door liberally with CRC may work consult a repair manual for exact dash bulbs & procedures.

My 2002 f250 door ajar light comes on and stays on, when it does,power locks dont work and auto lights dont work and radio stays on without keys in ignition
i know this will sound weird but, spray WD-40 in all the door latches (door side). I mean ALOT of it .Open and close all the doors many times and that will solve the prob. :)

you have a bad drivers door latch, the micro switch inside is not telling the computer that the latch has been opened which would normally mean the door is open.

The wires that go into the doors has probably broken from opening and closing the doors.They run though a rubber boot where the hinges are. Check all the doors wires. This is a common problem and i have fix many jeeps with these problems.
