Replace the entire CV axles. Support vehicle with jackstands by frame. Remove front wheels. Remove axle nuts. Remove lower balljoint nut. Separate balljoint from nuckle by banging hard with ball peen hammer on knuckle on spindle assy. Remove outer tie-rod nut. Separate tie-rod from steering nuckle by bangin on nuckle with ball-peen hammer. Use long pry bar to hold lower control arm down while simultaneously pulling hub/spindle assembly away from vehicle and pushing axle through hub toward transaxle. Go under vehicle and pry inner cv joint away from transaxle while holding axle assembly.
Install new CV axle in reverse of the disassembly.

I have a 1997 grand am it makes a rattle sound at left side near cvc axle. But could it be that or need motor mount.

Could be both, if the noise is loader when turning it will most likely be a CV joint.

How do I keep cvc boot of nissan versa moist/ greased so that it does not crack and allow cvc joint inside to get damaged. Apparently there is a way.?

well from my personal experience. every time i change the oil. i use a soap and water in a spray bottle and spritz the boots and wipe them clean. slide the rag in the grooves as well.
then when i dry them off, i use a product like armor-all to help prevent them from cracking. especially impt in adverse environments

How do I fix the cvc joint in a 1997 ford escort

CV Joints cannot be fixed, they must be replaced and some heavy specialized equipment is required. Generally this is a job for a fitment center. Shop around for the best prices, the CV joints they use will all probably come from either India or China.

How do you tell if a cvc joint is broken without pulling everything apart

If the CVC joint is broken, the car would not move. I assume that you are hearing unusual noises in the drivetrain. It is worthwhile to have a certified mechanic take a look at the car to determine if the CVC needs to be replaced, before serious problems develop.

Cvc joint, can u move it forward or will it mess up somthing?

Hello, I as a professional would say the safest thing would be to have it towed. If the joint has not been distroyed to the point of falling apart then you could possible push it by hand if the inboard joint is bad and not the outboard joint next to the wheel. With the outboard broken there is a very strong posibility the if you tried to make a turn even by pushing the joint will just lock up completely and you will not be able to push the vehicle past that point. You also take a chance of causing additional damage to the vehicle if the assembly comes apart completely. The outboard CVC joint is more dangerous than the inboard since the outboard is in a percision location to allow turning. Good Luck, RAC

Knocking sound

my solution to you is ask some one to check out your cvc joints cause once cvc joints go bad it starts to sound like your engines knocking but its the joints that are right next to the tire on the axel get under your car and look right behind the tire if there is a rubber here's a image of what the rubber on the axel should look like if its ripped or torn or even shredded thats your problem
