My car has manual door locks and windows, and the driver's side lock stopped working more than a year ago. Now I have to unlock the passenger side door and scoot through. While that isn't necessarily a problem, the passenger side lock is also beginning to stick. Should I replace or repair the lock?

You say the "lock" stopped working. It sounds like the door doesn't open at all. There could be a number of situations going on here. Does the door open from the inside? If not then it sounds like the latch mechanism. Or it could be the post on the pillar is out of align. Did the door have intermittent problems closing initially? Most door problems are not difficult, just tedious and time consuming. If you could provide the year and make, and a little more info.

Sounds like corrosion is set on your locks

undo door panel and check if it is corroded
lubricant could help, if not it has to be replaced

Testimonial: "Thanks! I will try that first. "

2002 Kia Rio with Manual locks My passenger side door won't lock/unlock; with/without key, or even open at all. And I haven't ever been able to lock/unlock, that door with the key but the door was opening...

I too have had the same issues with my 2004 Kia Rio. I personally believe that this should have been a recall in the door locks. I went to a pick and pull and retrieved the drivers side and passengers side locking mechanism from both doors (not the locks themselves because I needed to use the same key) and one worked like a charm and the other didnt. I since have went back and got another one and that one stopped working correctly. It seems that this a major issue with these cars.

Can the immobilizer or central locking be switched off in a Nissan Almeria 2001 car?

you can remove the central locking fuse , this will stop the lock/unlock constantly , the problem is usually with the drivers door lock mechanism , that is perhaps why you cant lock/unlock with the key, lock from inside vehicle and get out passenger side, that lock should work with the key until you get the lock changed on drivers door

Door locks unlocks

Sounds like the main wiring loom into the door has been damaged.
Check near the hinges, where the door swings, to see if any damaged wires. Does the door lock and unlock from the drivers side switch?

My driver door lock is being weird. The switch will lock the jeep but it will not unlock. And also :: the passenger side window switch only works half of the time

I have the same problem and my mechanic says if he fixes it, they will break again within a year. It's your door lock actuators, they're about $100 a piece to purchase and install. the locks still work, but they are a pain in the **** to get in the car. My actuators will lock the passenger door, but won't unlock it, but my driver door will unlock automatically but will not lock unless I do it manually. I've found this is a common problem, hope it helps.

1998 Toyota Corolla Electric Door Lock Problem

You'll need to replace the solenoid (motor) that doesn't work. Not hard once you get the door panel off. I suggest you buy the correct part, not a universal one.
