Yes - ABSOLUTELY C_maina,

Here in the USA places like AUTOZONE
(personal opinion = yuk) do FREE readings...

("FREE" can be pretty costly).

Typically giving them (A-zone) the OPPORTUNITY to sell

of buying a new THERMOMETER because you have a fever (the "NEW" oxy sensors TYPICALLY complain as well as the old ones...

Your car is the right age where your trouble could be anything from collapsing catalytic convertor/muffler, or any over fueling condition...

My very best suggestion... See if you have any EXHAUST shops that perform "FREE" READS...

Possibly bring those "reads" back here for another

Cross check their PARTS PRICES with your available sources on the internet (so at least you can negotiate a BETTER PRICE).

My toyota corolla nze 2002 has a rattling sound in the gear box

SInce any noise from within the engine/gear box cannot be taken lightly, it is important that you will need a good look from a service shop. If you have been carrying out the scheduled service in accordance with Toyota timings, there will not be an issue. You could check out if the noise is external, otherwise get you car to the authorised Toyota centre for an estimate. This will be better than trying out/ stipping and then waiting for spares. I hope my advise is helpful. good day

My NZE corolla engine is making a rattling sound when ascending a hill. How can I stop this problem? Please give me some solutions?

Park your car on a steep hill or jack the rear end up with a jack.

Locate the timing belt cover.

Increase the rpm and listen for the "rattling sound".

Most likely it's the timing belt guide.

If your engine has over 85,000 miles then you do get a complete timing kit and do the water pump at the same time.

My nze corolla engine is making a rattling when ascending hills.

That's called a "knock". You either have carbon on the cylinders which is fixed with a carbon depletion service, or you need to use a higher octane fuel.
