There is a short in your wiring harness under the plastic cover that surrounds your column. remove the cover crank the auto then wiggle all the wires there until you hit the sweet spot and it dies then look threw that area very well for loose or frayed wires loose connectors anything not normal. also follow your steering column to the floor board continuing the process you will find the problem.
Recommend replacing the fuse (Blower motor resistor) anyway - It's quite common for these to go bad on 5 series Bimmer's, which of course leads to dead batteries.

losen the bolts at the pump flange where it bolts to the engine block and rotate towards the engine about a 1/8 inch also adjust the linkage stop screw inwards no more than 1 1/2 turns
The start battery? Or just the battery in general? Typically the 12 volt battery in a car is used to run the starter and that's it.
In your car it is in the back...yes the back, it is nowhere under the front hood so quit looking. Open the trunk, on the right side---and underneath the access panel is the battery.
