Cooling problems I have been to 3 different shops and have spent almost $1000 dollars. My car was running alittle hot. Around 215-220 but not in the red. Will start at the beginning. My car was fine and I drove about 45 min and when I parked the car the reservoir boiled over but wasnt running hot. Did this twice so I changed the cap. Stopped boiling over but still ran to warm. Had antifreeze smell inside the car so had heater core replaced, it did have a leak. Thought maybe thats why it ran warm but didnt fix it. Changed the hoses and the thermostat twice. No luck. So took it to this last shop who said the coolant temp sensor was out and the water pump needed changed so did that. Asked them to check for cracked head or head gasket leak and was told it wasnt that. No smoke, no coolant in oil or vise versa. No Air bubbles in coolant in the reservoir and no loss of fluids. I asked if they bled the system and was told yes. When I got in my car to drive him the running hot problem was fixed and was running normal at 195 however I can still hear coolant running through the heater core until the car heats up. Is it possible there is still air in the system? And if so how to I get it out of the heater core. I dont have a radiator cap.

There could be some air still in the system...Sometimes when the head gasket starts to go it will put a small amount of combustion into the system...Hard to detect at first...A good test to see if this is happening is when the engine is cold and you start it up, rev the engine up for 30 seconds and then shut it off..Open up the system, if their is pressure present then the gasket is leaking...Caution..Do not do this if engine is warm...

I have trouble with the power steering on my 2007 impala and no garage can seem to know what the problem is.got over 2000.00 dollars spent.

It sounds like your steering cylinder has bad seals and oil is leaking around the seal. This is an internal leak and would not be visible.

1998 isuzu missing alittle bit. Running hot. Radiator replaced. What is my problem

missing a little and running hot are indicators that you could have a head gasket problem. have it tested for a bad head gasket. the missing could be caused by coolant leaking into the cylinder causing a misfire, because of a bad head gasket. running hot is another indication of head gasket. if the rad cooling fan working properly. I think these have what is called a clutch fan which means, when engine is cold the fan turns slower than it does when its warm. if its turning slow when warmed up like when its cold it could be the fan causing the hot running.

My 2002 chrysler sebring is leaking antifreeze on passage side on the ground not running hot have oil change good Every other day I have to add leaking until it low in the reservoir then it stop need help

Gloria, the leak can be from numerous places in the cooling system. You can run the vehicle until the temp is hot with the cooling system full and the hood open. With a flashlight look around for leaking coolant. If you are not comfortable doing that take it to a qualified mechanic to have it checked. ?Dont mess around with this. The #1 killer of engines is overheating. this will only get worse and most often it will happen suddenly. Then instead of several hundred dollars you will be looking at thousnads of dollars.

Ac blows hot

A car's air conditioning system is very technical and has many parts that could be contributing to a malfunction. The solution could be as simple as adding more refrigerant to your A/C system in order to recharge it. On the other hand, there may not even be a problem with the A/C itself, but there could be a problem with the radiator and coolant system. Having the ability to effectively troubleshoot why your car A/C system is not working properly can save you hundreds of dollars that would be spent on a mechanic if you are able to fix the problem yourself.

Fuel pump not pumping or priming

Fist check fuel filter and make sure it isnt just clogged. If not you will have to replace fuel pump. my dad had his replaced on his 1995 blazer and it cost over 1000 dollars but he didnt shop around. Make sure you shop around if you go to a big fancy shop you will be paying for there over head. You would be suprised the differance in prices you will get if you just shop around a little.

93' Grand Cherokee does not auto-shift to high gear until I hit 50-mph.

This is most likely the throttle position sensor. It sounds odd I know, but the throttle position sensor helps tell the transmission when to shift. This same thing happened to my Jeep. The sensor is located on the intake manifold on the engine and costs around 45 bucks.

To the guy who spent 2300 dollars getting a transmission rebuilt: They saw you coming and you got totally screwed over. I can get a cherokee transmission rebuilt any day of the week in the range of 800 to 1000 dollars. WOW check out your shops and mechanics a little better before you jump into a rip off.

Want to know how to swicth from r12 to134a air con.

That cost varies from shop to shop. Seriously it does. There is no common cost but a large ball park number can run around 1500-2000 dollars. There are some shops who can/will do it for less that 1000 dollars.

My Ford Taurus will not restart when it is warm/hot Once it cools down it restarts, no problem. ????

This may or may NOT help. I had a similar problem on my mustang a few years back. I spent, (actually my mother) spent hundreds of dollars trying to fix the same problem. i could be driving along fine and the thing would just die, after it cooled down for a little while, it would start right back up.

After going to 3 different shops and the car still doing it, i started asking around. Turns out the problem was the magnetic pickup coil on the distributor. This is usually located on the lower part of the distributor shaft that is down in the motor when the distributor is properly in place.

The part only cost 15 dollars, and after about 2 hours worth of work, the car ran fine. Your car may or may not even have one fo these, but since most fords are somewhat similar, i would think it does. If you are capable of doing this, try and replace that and see what happens. If you cant, ask a friend that knows what he or she is doing because a shop will probably charge way too much for doing thsi simple repair.

one thing that may cause a problem is the distributor gear, it is usually pressed on and will most likely require a shop to press it on and off. a good mechanic can do this fast and should be for less than 30 or 40 bucks. please post back if you find out this was the problem ro even if it wasnt.
