Question about BMW M6
Remember this is not a warning about oil level, that is another system, this is the engine oil pressure warning, this means the oil pressure being read by the oil pressure sending unit is below about 5-10 pounds per square inch or PSI, at this low of pressure the engine bearings can be damaged as well as other components like the valve train parts, the thing to do here is have the oil pressure tested by a shop with a special calibrated mechanical test gauge, the one in the car is electronic, u may just have a defective oil pressure sending unit, but take no chances, if the pressure is really low engine damage will occur soon, get the oil pressure PSI checked ASAP, if it is ok then the shop will replace the oil pressure sending unit on the engine, about a $100 part.
