ARE YOU POSITIVE THE SERP BELT IS NOT SLIPPING OFF THE CRANK PULLEY? I USE A STRIP OF DUCT TAPE TO HOLD IT ON THE PULLEY AS I FEED THE REST AROUND.

YOU SHOULD END UP WITH THE BELT TIGHT AND MUST THEN (USING A SERPENTINE IDLER PULLEY TOOL) RELEASE TENSION IN ORDER TO GET IT OVER THE CLOSEST, MOST CONVENIENT PULLEY...THEN RELEASE TOOL TENSION AND BELT SHOULD BE ON.
***FEEL FOR PROPER TENSION ON IDLER PULLEY (SERP BELT) IT MAY BE SHOT

its easier if you have a serp belt tool from the parts store the tensioner is at the top using the tool rotate it one way or the other and the belt will loosen up remove the belt rout the new belt and use the tool to rotate it to install on last pulley hers a pic so you dont forget how it is routed

CS = Crankshaft
F = Fan pulley
Gen = Alternator
T = Tensioner pulley
AC = Air Conditioning
PAS = Power Assisted Steering

Yes you can run a shorter belt. You will have to measure how many inches you need to get the right size belt. The routing should be pretty much the same you just skip the AC pump and route the belt as usual. The auto parts store may carry the belt of you ask for a no-ac option when making your purchase.

Belt routing should be right on the front of the vehicle besides your emission sticker. If you dont see it there, let me know and I can pull it off another vehicle here for you and send you a picture of it.

Any good auto parts store has a serp belt routing picture chart for each car

you should be able to tell. the parts with the groves will always go into a grove. the back of the belt will always hit the smooth rollers. so if you put it on and all the places fit. then that is the only way it will fit.
