1997 Ford Taurus Logo

Have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL. 3.0 Liter. 230,000miles. It has been a very reliable vehicle over the years until now. Two weeks ago it began to stall while driving. I made it home and parked in the garage. I started the car in the morning it ran. I drove another vehicle to work. I came home from work started the Taurus, ran and died. Now it cranks and no start. I have no fuel pressure. When I turn the key the check engine light does not come on. When I turn the key I hear no fuel pump. I connected my OBD2 code reader to pull codes and get ?failure to communicate? message. I disconnected the CCRM and connected a jumper wire on pin 5 and 11 the fuel pump runs and I get fuel pressure. It appears the PCM is not sending a signal to the fuel pump relay. I am looking for a PCM relay to test. Not sure were it is located. I can?t find it on the wiring diagram. In the past 5 months I have replaced battery, alternator, starter, rear sway bar links, coolant reservoir, egr valve, and transmission pan (I ran over a deer and punctured a hole in the pan). I would like to keep the car for winter driving and knock around car. Not worth much to anyone but me.

If you connected a jumper wire to pin 5 and 11 and the fuel pump runs, have you replaced the fuel pump relay in the process? Let me know how it goes.

SOURCE: Is the pcm and the ccrm on a 2000 mustang the same

the answer is no they are not the same. the constant control relay module or integrated control module is located on the right inner fender well under the hood. it has a 24 pin connector going to it and it controls various things like the cooling fans and the air conditioning system.

well, according to site www,fueleconomy.gov, the fuel consumption for a 1997 Ford Taurus is 18mpg for city driving, 25 mpg for highway and 21mpg combined....so you are running at an average, and for this age of vehicle, i think very good

I need a new Trans for a 1996 ford Taurus GL wagon.

The best way is to use the vehicle VIN number, here is a link to a Ford Vin Number Look-up site, that will tell you the transmission code and the type of transmission you have:
