It depends on who you talk to. Certainly the manufacturer and tire companies will say so but their biggest worry is liability. A lot of people do not do this and don't have any trouble, not all of us have the deep pockets that are required to keep them happy.
For sure the tread depth or wear has to be the same on an axle so you should at least change them in pairs. Depending on how much tread is left on the driver's tire you maybe should consider replacing the pair, if it's nearly worn out. A used tire that will match up in tread design could replace a half worn tire. Tread design HAS to match on the drive wheels and should match on any axle.
Minimum tread depth, in Canada is 3/32 of an inch and is probably similar elsewhere.All tire dealers have a guage to measure this and should check the tire in 2 or 3 spots.
If your tire shop is giving you a hard time or refuses to work with you, find another shop. A "mom and pop" shop will probably be more user friendly than a large chain and the prices won't be much different. Just remember that a used tire is used and will not give you the same mileage as a new one. Also what do you think the tire shop is going to do with the 3 tires they are taking off? They don't throw them out if there is any tread left on them, they sell them. Hope this helps.

I have a 2005 Acura MDX and the fuse for the power locks keeps blowing. It is located on the passengers side. Any thoughts as to why? It started happening after I got a tire repaired. I wonder if...

Tires and locks are unrelated. First I have the codes read for the BCM, then I would go for the drivers door. At the door jam in front, there is a boot that holds the wires. Check for broken wires here first. The go to the hatch and check for broken wires in the boot at the top. Codes will tell you which latch is bad. Go for them also.

Front passenger tire fell in while driving

Probably broke the upper ball joint.
If nothing else is damaged the cost of the ball joint is around $25 in most areas plus labor.

If one tire is damaged do you need to replace all four tires on an AWD.

Not really.
While it is recommended by most auto makers and tire companies to replace tires in sets of 2 or 4 it is not a requirement.
As long as the tires are all the same size and style, you should be ok with replacing just one.

Front driver side wheel shakes wile driving 60 mph and or lower

Sounds like the tire is starting to delaminate. How old are the tires? If you take the wheel off the car, you may be able to see a bulge in the tread. What is happening is the thread is starting to come loose from the steel belts underneath. It can happen to any tire with age. It's a serious problem: eventually the tread will separate completely, while you're driving, and throw the tread all over the place, most likely damaging your car. It could even cause you to lose control, or it could hit someone else, whatever. Gotta replace it, and soon.

If it's just the one wheel, not a shimmy in the whole car, I'd say the tire is going bad. It could also be a loose/worn out balljoint: with the front wheel(s) off the ground, try to move/shake each wheel. If there is any 'slop' in the wheel, you have a bad balljoint. Which requires professional repair, if only for a new alignment once the work is done.

Good Luck!

We have a flat on an AWD ford . Do we need to replace all 4 tires

Hello;
You will need to replace the tire with the same size tire. It should be the same brand as the other tires. I suggest that if your other tires are marginal, replace all four tires. You do want to keep the circumference of each tire the same. Hope this helps.
Thanks;
