MY KIA SPORTAGE 2005 LX V6 4WD ENGAGES WHILE IN MOTION WHICH MAKES THE MOVEMENT SLUGGISH AND JERKS. tHE LIGHT CONTINUES BLINKING TILL I TAKE OUT ONE BATTERY TERMINAL THEN IT BECOMES A SMOOTH DRIVE. My mechanic tells me its a switch but we are having so much difficulty finding the switch...What switch is causing this issue and how do we resolve it.

SOURCE: Sluggish Transmission when cold

You need to change the transmission fluid and filter as soon as possible. Being sluggish when cold is a sign of a very clogged up filter.

I fought with this problem every year since I had the Sportage. And it was so frustrating to find out just when you really needed it, that you did not have 4-wheel drive. I replaced the hubs with manual hubs and I wish I would have done it at the beginning. They work great and are 100% reliable. Bottom line.. the vacuum hubs were a great idea that just plain did not work reliably. Save yourself alot of grief and money and just replace the hubs. Less than $200 including paying someone to put then on and I now can rely on my Sportage when I need it.

Is the four wheel drive activated by vacuum? Check vacuum.

well what i would do first is smell the transmission fluid if it smell burnt the transmission must come out,if not drop the valve body and check for a stuck valve or a check ball stuck in the separator plate try that over and out joe cool
