1999 Silhouette Oldsmobile. My van is jerking when it shifts- automatically. I checked the oil and transmission fluid, but they are both full. What's the problem?

Check your transmission fluid. If it is anything but a nice, clear, red colour and/or if it smells burnt, the first thing to do is change the transmission oil and filter. It is amazing how often this clears up an automatic transmission. After that, it can get expensive, unfortunately.
TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SYSTEM STUCK ON.PROBLEM COULD BE PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE IS STUCK.OR THE TCC FLUID CIRCUITS LEAKING OR ABNORMALLY LOW HIGH LINE PRESSURE.OR THE TCC RELEASE SWITCH CIRCUIT IS SHORTED TO GROUND.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.IF TRANSMISSION FLUID LOOKS REAL DARK LOOKING AND SMELLY .CHANGE THE FLUID AND FILTER.IF THIS DONT HELP ! YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID OR INTERNAL DAMAGE INSIDE TORQUE CONVERTER.OR RESTRICTION IN OIL PASSAGES AND STOPPED UP OR BLOCKED TCC SCREEN.
Check the fluid level of this trans. make sure it is full and make sure the filter is in good condition and not clogged. if the fluid and filter are ok, i would also check the operational value of the transmission control and shift solenoids as well.
you will find the problem in one or all of the areas above.
try having your transmission filter changed there only about 15 - 20 bucks but you will have to buy transmission fluid. ive seen that solve that problem in a few vechiles. if you do it yourself there is a magnet located in the transmission pan that you have to remove to change the filter and if it is full of metal shavings i suggest asking a local transmission shop about having trouble with that type of vechicle
sounds like bad clutches in trans...tranny shop needed...takes 4 qts for a filter change and remember to check it when the vehicle is warm and in park running.
