1991 Ford F250 Logo

1991 Ford F-250 (again!) 4.9 liter, dual tanks. Just replaced the ignition switch on the column, replaced a fused link that went open due to the old switch shorting out. had it all put back together things were working wonderfully, started and shut it off several times. Then the last time, it just died and will not start. Thing that stood out to me, is that when I turn the key on, I do not hear the fuel pump build up pressure as it used to always do. Tried switching tanks though and still did not hear the pump. So, guessing something before the fuel pumps. Any advice?

Try resetting the inertia switch located on drivers side way up under the dash, with a red button on top, maybe you kick it or hit the body hard enough to kick it off, also check the fuel pump relay under the hood drivers side ,i think brown and black relay box over wheel( inner fender)..and check the fuse, and new fuseable link

Testimonial: "Inertia switch it was! Thank you very much!! Excellent service."

I have a 1991 Ford F-250 XLT Lariat automatic. I replaced the ignition switch, now I have no power anywhere. Help please?

Did you disconnect the battery when you replaced the ignition switch? Some ignition switches contain the immobilizer transponder. You would need to reset the anti-theft system. You need an auto electrician or an alarm installer / auto locksmith with a pro grade scan tool. Having said that, after a quick Google, it is a known issue!

Where is fuse for 85 ford f150 dual tank switch

Hello. That fuse is in one of two places; in the main fuse box on the driver side in the cab or on the left front inner fender. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

1991 f150 starts but must hold key on to stay running i turned key on and off atleast 100 times to rid my tank of bad gas also i'am running off my battery

It sounds like you need to replace the ignition starter switch, the symptom you have is an exact fit, most models of Ford where recalled years ago for this problem.. The starter switch is at the base of the steering column under the dash and operated by a rod from the ignition key tumbler. Very cheap and easy to replace.

I have a 1989 F 250. We replaced the ignition switch, but there seems to be a connection problem. I was told by a reapairmen that he would have to take out the steering column to fix it. When I try to

First of all, was the lock cylinder, the part where your key goes in? Or was it the ignition switch, located on the lower end of your steering column, near your feet? If this is a problem relative to a tilt steering unit, and having to replace a lock cylinder due to a lost key and thus having had to break the lock cylinder out, then yes, you will have to disassemble the column to replace the broken pot metal piece that connects your lock cylinder to your ignition switch on your steering column. These units are tricky and quite difficult to work on, unless you have a lot of patience and a very good mechanical mind or education. Now, if this is merely relative to the replacement of the actual ignition switch located near your feet on the column, then it is much simpler to deal with. Typically the problem that everyone seems to run up against is when they replace the switch, but when they turn the key, the vehicle does not turn over or even try to start. This is just an adjustment of the switch itself. loosen the 2 bolts or nuts slightly so that t is still somewhat tight, and slide the switch in small increments either direction, making certain to tighten them both again after each new slide you make until you are able to start and shut off your vehicle normally. In some cases the long rod running from the lock cylinder to the ignition switch will get bent and not work properly. ?Either et a new onr from a dealership or local wrecking yard. In the first case I addressed concerning the tilt steering column, it is a usually cheaper solution to simply go to your local wrecking yard and purchase another column than it is to have a mechanic repair or rebuild your old one.

How do you hook up the ignition to the new sterring column 91 toyota pickup

Looking at terminal block on the vehicle with the connect tang to top wires are numbered from right to left 1 to 4 then bottom right to ldft 5 to 8Terminals 3 & are accessory on . 2,3&4 are ignition on and turn on 7&8. When you turn to start terminals 1,2,4,7,8connect. Terminal 4 is battery power thru fuseable link. Terminal 2 goes to Ignition gauge fuse and turn fuse. Terminal 1 goes to daytime rinning light relay. Terminal 3 goes to acc fuse or radio. Terminal 8 goes to another fuseable link to batt. terminal goes to starter motor. Hope that helps

My 1991 Ford F 250 Will NOT start.

a solution could be that in tank fuel pumps are electric and the tank selection switch not only sees to it that the lines are switched but the power to the pumps as well. So a lack of fuel means that you have to check the complete fuel delivery system. That means the fuses, the switch, the wiring, and the pumps. Also, make sure your fuel filter is not clogged.
