If your vehicle is equipt with a serpentine belt, there should be a black sticker upon the radiator support with the routing diagram written in white.

if serpentine, then it should be on the fan shroud or the radiator cover...

on this Ebay website it will show a timing cover which is the same as for your 84 engine
The three holes that are shown ganged together at the two o'clock position is were the timing indicator is bolted to
It is made of plastic which withstands high temperatures. it may crack and fall off due to age
