no not replace the whole unit.
you can easy buy only the glass. need to know if its heated or not. i think its the same as v70 and c70 models

Most likely you will have to replace the whole unit.
if just the glass is broken then you can get a universal mirror glass and stick it on previous glass.

on most cars you can just replace the class. ask your volvo dealer if they have a part listing fo the glass only. some mirrors snap in then some are glued in. if you are able to get your hands on a new mirror glass you can look at the back of it to see if it snaps in or not.
Most good glass shops can cut you a mirror and they just cement to the backing plate. I replace mine because I don't like the "objects are closer than they appear"
Lots of parts houses stock mirrors but I doubt you will find a Volvo one .
You can replace it a couple of ways, my wife broke my side mirror with a paint ball gun, so I just cut a piece of mirror and glued it in the holder. Worked great for years, Till I found a new mirror, and took the real glass out and snapped it in the holder. But you can remove the holder by taking off the plastic cover inside the car behind the mirror, unbolt the holder and hang on to it, it is heavy. You might have to pull the door panel to get the wire disconnected. Then you can either replace it or work on it easily. Hope this helps.
You can usually just replace the mirror, any commercial auto-glass store has the glass you need. sometimes it is necessary to replace the mirror and its backing (a plastic frame which snaps into the adjustable motor) you don't need to replace the whole mirror unless the housing is broken.
