Check your brake fluid level in the reservoir; some Toyotas have wheel cylinder sensors; some Toyotas have master cylinder sensors; you also have a sensor on the parking brake and on the brake pedal inside the cab. Check all that.
This indicates either low fluid in the Master cylinder resivior, and/or a leak in the brake system. This needs to be checked immediately as your brakes could go completely out and you won't be able to stop your car! Look at each wheel & if you see brake fluid coming down the inside of the wheel or tire, that's where the leak is. Otherwise, there is a line leaking, or your Master cylinder is leaking & you would be able to identify that by having brake fluid under the flor mat in front of the driver, behind the brake pedal.
Please get this checked immediately. Good Luck
Sometimes the brake pads have a wear indicator which activates when the pads wear down to much, If the pads are in good condition, it may be the brake switch is sticking ,you will usually find it connected to the brake pedal, give it a spray and check it does not stick.
You may have a low brake fluid indicator light on your dash.. check the brake fluid level..if low its time to replace the brakes
This can mean several things.... The brake switch is broken or needs to be adjusted, for the parking brake.... The system has a leak and the sensor has detected a low fluid level.... The front pads are low and the fluid in the reservoir has a float the closes a switch turning on the light....
